Productivity – 3 Things To Do That Will Increase Yours

productivity

Productivity practice #1 -
Turn off all notifications

From a marketing view it is standard practice to ask any visitor to subscribe and turn on notifications so you don't miss a blog, a tweet, a like on Facebook, etc.

This is so you will always aware of when new valuable information will come out. And that is not a bad thing to learn new things that might enhance your productivity such as this blog or the video attached to it.

But...for true productivity have them turned of a set a time to go and check those things once or maybe twice a day. And then... make it only the things that are relevant to what your goals are.

Productivity Practice #2 -
Turn Your Cell Phone Off.

This is probably one of the most difficult things to do.  Go ahead...see how many excuses you can come up with as to WHY you cannot turn it off.

If you did not cover them all...let me give you a few suggestions.

productivity

"my child might call me"

"my husband, wife, mother, father, brother, sister, and boss might call me"

and everybody that I have a fear of missing out on (FOMO) might call!  Yes they might and that usually is a distraction.  Therefore slowing down your productivity.

Because here is what you lose.  The time on the phone, this could depend on how much you or the other person likes to talk.

The time trying to remember where you were in your work. This will depend on how well you have trained your memory, the subject matter, the attitude and aggravation you just got from the phone call, etc. etc.  The time it takes to get focused on the task at hand, studies have shown that is 23-1/2 minutes.

You have to ask yourself how valuable was that hour?

Productivity Practice #3 -
Schedule Blocks Of Time

This is nothing new, anybody that gets things done knows this.  But just because you know it does not mean you do it!  You need to close that knowing-doing gap.  You need to make common knowledge...common practice.

It is very simple.  First make sure you notifications and cell phone is turned OFF. Then know what you are going to work on.  Set a timer for 45 or 50 minutes and work.

When your timer goes off STOP working.  Take a 5 to 10 minute break.

DO NOT...turn on notifications or cell phone during this break time.  Watch the 15 minute video below for more details on these three practices.
