If you are working on your retirement like I am, and you don't have enough of the green stuff put away to make you feel comfortable, then, you probably have considered or are considering a part time income source.

That is me also, in fact that is why I am writing this post about Pinterest.  Pinterest is a traffic source that has the buyers.  It is not a fast source but the people are looking for something to solve a problem in their life.

If you have a business or are considering one then you will want to keep on reading.  If you are considering Pinterest as a traffic platform then here is a good start.

It is a Business

If you are going to have a business, then treat it like a business and focused on your audience.

Remember: even when you are telling your business story, everything is about your customer, not you. Others are locked into his or her favorite channel – WIIFM (what’s’ in it for me).

What we need to do, to show our Pinterest visitor why they should like, share, and buy from our pins?

First thing is …

Business Profile Name

In your business profile name you may want to choose your actual business name, or you might want to use a keyword profile name.

It’s up to you and depends on how you intend to use the account.

If you do use your business name, you can include keyword descriptors in the description of the business.

Things like: leads, do it yourself, knitting, home business — whatever your business is about use those key words.

A Thorough Description of Your Business

Next, you will want a thorough description of your business.

Using keywords that your audience might look up will help them to find you.

Describe your business, and how you plan to use Pinterest in the business.

Also, let your audience know why they might want to follow your boards and get to know you better.  After all, you are branding YOU incorporated!

A Good Profile PictureBaxter

Get a good profile picture so people can see you. For your business account, your profile picture can be your logo or a picture of you.

It depends on what type of business you have. If it is a freelance business, a picture of you is a good idea.  Again, you are after branding you. Do not put up a photo of your dog, your cat or house, people want to know you.

If there are more people part of the business, using your logo is a good idea.

Website Information

You need this need only if you want visitors to go to your Website.

Remember to include your URL (www.baxtercribbs.com) or whatever it maybe and information about what they’ll find on your website when they visit it.  Your website, blog, should be your central hub.  Everything should lead back to here.

Social Account Information

People want to connect to other people, we are just built that way, so include your Social Account Information. And not everybody is on Facebook but they are on other places like Linkedin, Instagram, etc. that is what these little icons below are for — people to reach you from anywhere in the world.

social_media_icons

So – to get more eyeballs on your information/content Integrate other social media into your account by providing the URLs of them on your profile.

Descriptive Board Names

Descriptive Board Names are a MUST! – Start five to six different boards with descriptive keyword-rich, 20 to 30 would be nice,  names that your audience will understand and potentially search for.

Continue with Keyword-Rich Description for Boards – Don’t forget to always fill out the description of each different pinboard so that it will help your audience find them. Visitors are going to search by their need or desire so keyword-rich boards will help cure that desire.

Then, Select Appropriate Board Cover Photos. Your board should be appealing to the eye.

Remember to select the right cover photo for your boards.

Resize it as instructed so that it shows the whole picture without clicking on it.

Organize Your Boards – Remember that people look at any account at the top boards, so put your most important boards at the top.

You might even want to rearrange them occasionally in order to be sure all your boards are seen. Just click – Hold – drag – it’s that simple.

If you get all of the information to put on your Pinterest business account ready prior to starting your account, you should be able to set this up in just a couple of hours.

If you’ve already started, you can go back and change things – even the name of your business if you did not do so good the first time.  We learn as we go.

To attract more visitors to your Pinterest account faster, put up at least five or six different categories of boards for your business account.  Then, keep it up dated on a regular basis (preferably everyday) for best results.

You can add to the boards, reorganize them, and other things to keep them up to date.

Short Summary

Now, why would you do all of this on Pinterest? Because, as I say earlier, people go here to buy! They are not here to chat like on Facebook.  It is like when I go into WalMart (notice I say “when”) I know what I want, I go get it and leave.

If this sounds like something you want to try then make sure you have the foundation correct by applying these tips.

If you are a business person you want traffic and this is good traffic. You just have to learn how to attract them to your pins to get them to your website and like doing it.

Here is a secret … you can get valuable information and application on how to do this in a free 10 boot-camp done in your own home. Click below to try it out.

Baxter Cribbs -- I like marketing and Copywriting and helping other learn the same. When I am not learning about either of these I like to work out. The outdoor YMCA track is his favorite place. I also like studying and talking about the scriptures. I believe a person should be growing until the end of life.
